A well-seasoned veteran, Ollie has laid down his bass licks enhancing the musical talents of such notables and legends as: Etta James, Curtis Griffin, Lowell Fulson, Willie Mae Thornton, George Smith, JD Nicholson and Lil Johnny Adams – to name a few.

Before Ollie turned to playing lead guitar, he was a member of the legendary Phillip Walker Blues Band both from 1962 through 1965 and 1987 through 1989. In the interim years he toured the States as the bass player for various groups. A highlight of this time period was accompaning the Phillip Walker Band on their 1989 European tour. Ollie has also toured in Japan and looks forward to returning again in the future.

Oklahoma Ollie has now begun a new chapter in his career. Having formed his own group, the “Blues Stand Band”, he brings together all of his experience and showmanship to the stage. His CD “Good Man Around” is a collection of original songs that displays Ollie’s talents while singing and playing lead and bass guitar using a variety of blues stylings.

GOOD MAN AROUND
words & music by Oklahoma Ollie / BMI

Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
One who’ll do all your errands -
and drive you all over town

He’ll take you to pay your bills
He’ll take you to the store
I know what you are saying
Ain’t no good man like that no more

Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
Who’ll wash your dirty clothes, bed spreads, blankets and pretty night gowns.

You might be one the kind – who say you heard and seen it all – -
If you wanna make a change baby, don’t beat your head against the wall
Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
Who’ll treat you better than any man you ever found

You tried it one time two times three times and four
You tried it that many — so try it once more
Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
You’ve got good intentions, don’t let the bad ones get you down

I’ll be there baby — when things get tough
I’ll show you my love – I won’t give up
Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
I’ll help you pay your bills, and you will never see a frown

Hey baby – don’t you want a good man around
Who’ll bring you love and flowers
and will never let you down
